A3

Who’s behind A3

We’re Blake Pierson and Doug Wormhoudt. We’ve been building companies together since 2009, starting with Lovely, the rental search platform acquired by TPG-backed RentPath.

Between us, we’ve started businesses from scratch, built and scaled teams and operations, engineered complex software, and worked on how society can safely adopt AI and share in its benefits. A3 brings those experiences together.

We believe trust is what allows organizations to give AI meaningful responsibility. That means owning the intelligence your business builds, controlling who can access it, and understanding when AI can act and when a person should decide. We built Eddy around that foundation, and we run A3 on it every day.

Blake Pierson

Co-founder & CEO

Blake’s career spans founding companies, operating businesses at scale, and helping organizations navigate AI.

He co-founded Lovely and, following its acquisition, served as Chief Product Officer and a member of RentPath’s executive team. His responsibilities included P&L ownership and the digital experiences across a portfolio supporting hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue.

At Opendoor, he helped build and scale a newly formed Customer Success division across multiple U.S. markets during the company’s growth toward its 2020 public-market debut, when its valuation exceeded $10 billion.

Over the past several years, Blake has focused on AI governance, policy and adoption, including as co-founder and CEO of Fathom. There, his team developed and championed the Independent Verification Organization framework for AI oversight, which has since informed legislation in California, Connecticut and Virginia, as well as the proposed federal FRONTIER Act. His work reflects a broader interest in how AI’s economic benefits can reach more people and organizations.

At A3, Blake leads product vision and client implementation, combining that experience with hands-on work to understand how each organization operates, where it gets stuck, and how better processes and AI can help.

He lives in Northfield, Vermont, where he and his wife co-founded Rainbow Gardens, a Waldorf school.

Doug Wormhoudt

Co-founder & Chief Architect

Doug has spent more than thirty years building complex software from first principles.

He was co-founder and CTO of Lovely through its acquisition by RentPath. He later founded Dream, an early platform for collaborating in virtual reality, built from the ground up in C++. He has led engineering teams at every stage of a company’s life.

At A3, Doug is the architect and engineer behind Eddy. He leads the technical work of connecting systems, building reliable workflows, and putting each organization’s intelligence to use. Every deployment is engineered under his direction.

How we work

Our work starts with understanding your business: its people, processes, information and systems, along with the challenges and opportunities that matter most.

The Transformation Assessment establishes that foundation and defines a practical implementation plan. We then improve the relevant processes and deploy Eddy in stages, with clear responsibilities and measures of success. Ongoing Managed Care supports the platform and helps it develop alongside your organization.

Blake and Doug remain directly involved throughout, bringing operational judgment and technical implementation together.

Independent by design

A3 is self-funded and has taken no venture capital. We’re building a business around long-term customer relationships and a belief that organizations should own the intelligence they create.

Ten percent of every sale supports The Allodial Foundation, the nonprofit we founded and funded to advance a shared mission: AI that people, households and organizations own rather than rent.
